Aquila AM69 V1.0A to V1.1A Update Guide
Introductionβ
This article provides a comprehensive view of the changes and the necessary actions for your system to work with the version 1.1A of the Aquila AM69 Octa 32GB WB IT.
Description of Changesβ
The following sections detail the changes between Aquila AM69 Octa 32GB WB IT V1.0A and Aquila AM69 Octa 32GB WB IT V1.1A, highlighting hardware upgrades and their impact on product integration.
Hardware Upgradesβ
Wireless Module Silex SX-PCEBEβ
The Wireless module was replaced with the Silex SX-PCEBE.
No impact on the carrier board.
Enable TDA4VH automotive SoCsβ
Enable the usage of the TDA4VH automotive supersets of SoCs. Options with TDA4VH are available via request. Contact us for details.
No impact on the carrier board.
Generic FuSa facilitationβ
This change incorporates generic Functional Safety (FuSa) facilitation in the design for the automated/autonomous mobile vehicles/robots use cases.
No impact on the carrier board.
Bug Fixesβ
Errata #1: 25MHz clock jitterβ
Added a dedicated 25MHz crystal for the Ethernet PHY to solve the 25MHz clock jitter too high to pass the Ethernet Compliance.
No impact on the carrier board.
Errata #2: USB_2_ENβ
Software Support added fix for USB_2_EN signal need to be inverted (by default itβs active low output from the bridge).
No impact on the carrier board.
Errata #3: USB_2_SS_TX linesβ
The series capacitors missing on the USB_2_SS_TX lines (HAR-10963) were added to the module to eliminate the need for adding capacitors in the carrier board.
Impact on carrier: Yes
- Aquila Development Board: Fixed on V1.2C and V1.3A onwards. Series capacitors on
USB_2_SS
lines removed and replaced with 0R (R461 and R462) - Clover: Fixed on V1.0B and V1.1A onwards. Series capacitors on
USB_2_SS
lines removed and replaced with 0R (R66 and R67) - Customer Carrier Board: If your carrier board includes footprints for the
USB_2_SS
lines and capacitors are assembled, remove the capacitors and replace them with 0R resistors. If the footprints are not present, no action is required.
If the footprint is present, consider removing it in future board revisions.
Errata #4: VBUS inputβ
The VBUS input is not 5V tolerant on the V1.0A (HAR-10972). The missing voltage divider has been added to the VBUS input, making it compatible with 5V level.
Impact on carrier: Yes
The voltage divider was not present on the SoM on V1.0A. As a workaround, it was added to the initial carrier board revisions and was removed in the superseding versions.
- Aquila Development Board: Fixed on V1.2C and V1.3A onwards. R114 removed from VBUS line, and changed the value of R452 to 22Ohm.
- Clover: Fixed on V1.0B and V1.1A onwards. R59 removed from VBUS line, and changed the value of R61 to 22 Ohm.
- Customer Carrier Board: If you added the voltage divider on the carrier board as a workaround, remove it and follow the Aquila Development Board V1.3 reference design for that line.
Errata #5: CTRL_RESET_MICO#β
The V1.0A module does not comply with the Aquila Family Specification concerning the CTRL_RESET_MICO# signal (HAR-12387). The V1.1A revision includes a firmware change on the module to fix the issue.
Impact on carrier: Potential
- Aquila Development Board: Not affected
- Clover: Not affected
- Customer Carrier Board: Possibly affected due to the different compute module behavior; however, that will depend on the solution implemented on the customer side. Please review carefully for any impacts on your application.
