Boot XP from SATA (Woodpecker)

Article updated at 23 Sep 2012

It is not possible to boot XP from a SATA-Disk connected to the Woodpecker module because the SATA interface is provided via a USB to SATA bridge. A SATA disk appears in the system as a USB-Mass-Storage-Device. See: Boot XP from USB (Robin, Woodpecker) for more information.

Use a IDE hard disk to install Windows XP on Woodpecker or use Windows Embedded Standard, XP Embedded or WEPOS.

Note: On Robin Modules SATA is provided via an IDE-to-SATA bridge, which allows booting to XP.
